Akshara Damle graduated from Mangalore University in Biotechnology with a gold medal. During his graduation, he did his internship in Centre for Human Genetics, Bengaluru, where chromosomal banding technique was the focus area which is helpful in finding out chromosomal abnormalities. He was an active student at the University with involvements in various field research projects and social work activities. He was a student delegate in Indian Science Congress, 2003 which was held at Bengaluru University campus.
In addition to having a scientific background, he is keen in cultural and social activities. He has learnt Carnatic Classical Music for around 17 years and has performed in reputed platforms. Being an amateur artist of Yakshagana, a dance – drama art form of Karnataka, he has given more than 200 performances. Bala Pratibha Puraskar was awarded to him in 2006 for his achievements in Yakshagana.
As a columnist with Afternoon Voice, an English daily from Mumbai, he has published several articles on social and national issues and also has published several articles in reputed Kannada newspapers. In 2015, he co-founded Kannada Forum to create a platform for young writers and to promote citizen journalism.
In 2016, he has co-founded Lipikara Language Services, a language translation company which is focusing on translating technical contents from English to Kannada so that many rural youths can be trained and made employable. He also aims to start a vocational education centre to train in translation skills.
